Summer Goals

Things to Keep Me Busy

Over the summer it’s easy to get bored, and this usually results in staying inside in front of a TV. For this reason, I would like to make lists that would give me fun things to do. After all I have three months of no school, so I should take advantage of the extra time.

My bedroom looks clean, but when you get a closer look it’s cluttered and sloppy. Over the past year I have made a list about what needs to be organized and here it is:

  • My closet
    • Hang up hand-me-downs
    • Donate clothes I don’t wear anymore
  • Bookshelf
    • Buy new books
    • Donate books I don’t need
  • Put away things that are on top of my dresser and desk
  • Clean out under my bed
  • Organize drawers of clothes
  • Clean any access clutter

Aside from being active and following a routine improving my art skills and techniques is my main summer goals. In order to achieve this I can:

  • Use the How to Draw book my Grandma got me
  • Practice painting with watercolor and acrylic paint
  • Make friendship bracelet
  • Use my air dry clay
  • Color drawings with colored pencils
  • Practice drawing portraits
  • Paint new wall decorations

A Day in My Summer Life

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

There goes my daily 9:00 alarm, and last night I fell asleep instantly since my phone was in another room. Like any other day I get out of bed and immediately began doing my chores: taking out the trash, emptying the recycling bin, and cleaning the litter box. I like to shower at night, but I still put on a cute, comfy outfit. Once I’m settled I decide I want scrambled eggs with half an avocado, while I eat my breakfast I watch one episode of a show called Scrubs.

Today I set the goal to organize my jewelry box, but this gets interrupted when I get a text from my mom asking me to start a load of laundry. As much as I don’t want to go back to my original task, I commited to something so I finish the lengthy task. By now it’s 11:23 so I ask my friend Ava if she can meet me at the park in between our houses. I eat a turkey sandwich and grapes, while I wait for her to respond. We decide to make friendship bracelets so I get some string, text my parents that I’m going, and ride my bike there.

Around 4:30 we decide to walk around the neighborhood, which ends about an hour later when I’m asked to go back home. After dinner I start another load of laundry, shower, and write goals for the next day. Before I know it it’s 10:30 so I head to bed.

I want a desk so I can peacefully practice and develop art skills

I want to be good at this because it makes me happy

Art is my passion

I want a neat, clean, and sustainable room

I want tidy drawers and a well-kept closet

I want this so making outfits is easier

I want to dress well

The way I dress leaves an impression

I want a neat, clean, and sustainable room

I want to redecorate my bedroom

I want my walls to be less cluttered

I want my decorations to fit my age

I want to paint my decorations

My room should be a fun space

I want a neat, clean, and sustainable room

Avoiding Bad Habits

What time of year do you feel the most depressed? This is a question that I have asked many of my friends and all but one answered summer. I feel the exact same way and this year I want to avoid it by creating healthy habits.

Problems Solutions
Often during summer I notice that more than half of my day is spent on the couch, which results in poor hygiene, laziness, weight gain, and depression. When I get up I can immediately start doing chores and avoid technology. If I am eating in front of the TV, I will eat healthy. In fact I should eat cleaner overall.
I am always inside and not exercising. I love walking outside so I should do it everyday, especially since vitamin D is vital when fighting feeling down. Even if it is raining or it’s to hot outside workout videos on youtube are a great alternative.
I feel like I’m not socializing even though I want to. Socializing doesn’t have to be in person. I could even kill two birds with one stone if I talk with one of my friends, while I do chores. However being with friends always puts me in a good mood and it’s important to maintain relationships. I can always text somebody and make plans.
I am not sleeping regularly, which is bad for my mental health. As bad as it sounds setting an alarm would be really helpful because routine is key. Also going to bed at the same time is important, so I should sleep with my phone in a different room to limit distractions.

Committing to My Summer Goals

Over this past year I have made a mental list about skills and things I want to improve in my life. This blog will encourage me and hopefully you to achieve certain goals. I will walk you through how I plan to become a better artist, have a more organized room, exercise, and avoid habits related to depression. Over the past summers I have been glued to the TV and I have stayed in pajamas until 1 pm. This summer will be different in all the best ways!
